I wanted to let you know about a demo Melanie, Rikko, Sissy and I did yesterday at the Everett Aquasox game. I just finished writing a nice thank you e-mail to Katie who invited us out.The sun came out just in time too!We has such an incredible time! I have to say I think that Melanie’s new little one stole the hearts of all the baseball players yesterday. Chase was a great showman, even though he was not dancing, but I think he had some fun as well. Melanie and Rikko went up first and did great! Rikko was a champ and just zoomed out there weaving and spinning and being quite sassy putting his paws up on his mama. Of course Melanie had a great red, white, and blue outfit to match Rikko’s great baseball attire. I think that the players being so far away from their families enjoyed connecting with such a happy guy as some missed their own dogs back home.Sissy and I went up next. She was wearing a little baseball jersey that I wasn’t sure if she would dance in. We warmed up with a couple of moves, and she seemed good to go. Well……..she sure was. Sissy did one of her best demos ever! I was so proud of her. I have to admit it was a bit intimidating at such a large stadium, but the dogs knew better and they were our support for the evening. I think both Rikko and Sissy knew it was a great time to show off to the crowd. They were both Rock Stars! We sure had a blast, and I have to say it was great meeting some of the past great Pro – Baseball players, and getting to meet some of the new faces of tomorrow.~Whew~ now that this last demo is over, I can finally concentrate on helping with, and getting ready for, the gala in Sep, Yay!Have a great day everyone and keep on dancin’!~Janice & Sissy~
- We had a great time at the Go First Wednesday / Willamette Humane Society event last evening. The monthly event is held on the 1st Wed to help draw more people to the downtown stores, resaurants, galleries, etc and this was a special night celebrating dogs.DGD performed freestyle in a large ring in the middle of the street. The 3 of us – Nancy R with Baka, Nancy R-C with Brogan and I with Scottie & Izzy entertained a large audience of dogs and their people twice during the evening. As usual with an outdoor festival-type setting, we had an opportunity to practice with numerous distractions and a nearby band provided some of the music for us (ie: we couldn’t always hear our own music, but everyone handled it well.) All the dogs did awesome performances and Scottie loved working with his clown props again – skate board, balance beam & stick horse. Izzy soaked in everything and barked ferociously at a person wearing a giant dog head although someone in a yellow duck costume didn’t seem to faze her.
In addition to performing with DGD, my business, Canine Corral (doggie daycare, boarding, training & photography)had a vendor booth at the event. I’m looking forward meeting the 2 winners of Willamette Humane Society contests who will get a free daycare visit at The Corral.
Brenda, Scootin’ Scottie & Itty Bitty IzzyIt was a great event and we were so sorry that Jen was unable to join us with some of her dogs because her car would not start. But luckily she had delivered the ring gates and big red earlier in the day to me so we were in good shape with DGD’s ring gates and Brenda’s fencing. Brenda was right next to My Dogs Gym and Phyllis who came and watched at Wild West Unleashed went out and did some work with her dog Stevie. Judi from My Dogs Gym is now Auntie Judi as she watched Baka when I needed to do non dog things. Both are hoping to have a beginner routine ready for October. All in all it was great fun. And it did not rain!! There was hail reported all around us but we had good weather.Wish more of you could have joined us.
